How to get an Iowa real estate license: steps, fees and deadlines
96 course hours, a $51 background check, a $95 PSI exam and a $125 application. The order matters and three of the steps expire. Here is the sequence.
What is published
Iowa asks for 96 classroom hours, a national background check, a PSI exam and an application, in that order and inside fixed windows. Here is the whole sequence with what each step costs and how long its clock runs.
Each step on the home page names the page the fee or the rule was read from, and the date those pages were checked. If a figure is missing, the step says the publisher did not print one.
Estimates
The dollar figures are the ones Iowa REALTORS and the state pages published when they were read: background check, exam, application, and the course prices they list. Adding the lowest course ($425) to the three fixed fees ($51, $95, and $125) is $696. That sum is arithmetic on published fees, not a quote, and it does not include errors-and-omissions insurance, which neither page prices.
